What you will learn.
- Read the estimated cost by item category.
- Understand allowances and the difference between cost and selling price.
- Recognize an incomplete estimate when a required rate is missing.
Understand what is included.
The estimate brings together priced materials and configured items such as edge bands, handles, drawer systems and purchased fronts. Allowances and other adjustments are separate from those item prices.
Read the breakdown rather than relying only on the final number. Estimated cost and the cabinet’s selling price serve different purposes in the commercial workflow.
Treat missing rates as unfinished work.
The lesson removes a rate to show the incomplete-pricing state, then restores it. A known subtotal should not be mistaken for a complete estimate when a required item still needs pricing.
Review material thicknesses, pricing units and the project currency. Confirm your rates and allowances before using the estimate in a customer offer.
